You might say this Ohio maternity session on the ranch inspired me. Maybe it was the sweet mama carrying her child, gracefully walking through their pasture. Or maybe it was their little pup hopping through tall grass, just barely peeping his little head out with each hop. It could have also been the horses that joined into the photoshoot with mom + dad. It’s no doubt they’ve had their hand in taking care of life over the years. Parenting fits them well already, that’s for sure.
While I often feel deeply inspired by the people who bravely grace the front of my camera lens with no prior modeling experience, some moments just feel extra important. Some moments feel like they should be payed special attention, like comforting a new mom who is experiencing such beautiful change in her life, in her body and in her very being, and a dad who is willing and ready to be the shoulder she needs in her weaker moments, although I know first hand that moms aren’t weak.

But I knew that it was a session I could do 100x over when it ended in the foggiest night I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. Instead of calling it a night, we embraced the beauty it became so suddenly and took pictures until we couldn’t see anymore.
Sure, during this time, Katie with Simplicity of Grace came along and lost her camera bag somewhere along the way ? but who doesn’t love a good story to pair with a perfect maternity session, just weeks before they welcomed their first (human) child into the world. Don’t worry, she found it!
