Questions To Ask Your Wedding Photographer After Booking

It is common to feel like you don’t know which questions to ask. After all, you’ve never done this before. You’re wondering if you should have more questions, or what questions you should ask, if any at all. For the most part, we believe that a professional who cares for you and your event will serve as your guide like we do, and they will almost always give you what we call “the next step” after your current step is completed. So let’s get started with questions to ask your wedding photographer after booking 👉🏼

When is the right time to schedule our engagement photos?

Your photographer might have his or her own opinion on this, which is great! You are confident in who you hired, and they will guide you as needed. If we are your photographers, you can schedule your engagement photos anytime before 6 months out, and we recommend you create a mood board and see which types of vibes and locations you are most interested in. If you love the idea of a cozy indoor engagement session like this one, you might wait for winter-time and do it then. If you love fall, you might schedule your engagement pictures for the peek of the fall foliage. It is, at the end of the day, personal preference, but it’s worth looking into and asking your photographer what they recommend.

What should we do during the in-between months, between booking you and our weddings day?

The best piece of advice I can give to you as a wedding photographer is to relax and try your best to enjoy this season of being engaged. It is SO HARD because there is so much going on, and so much to do, but this is a special season too, and you should try to live in the moment and truly enjoy where you are right now. Everything will come together, and you will have the best day of your life soon. Enjoy it!

When should we schedule our final consultation with you?

This varies depending on your photographer, but it is safe to bet that 30 days out is a great time to nail down the specific details like timeline planning, family groupings, and anything your photographer should be aware of come wedding day (like divorced parents, family feuds, and all the fun stuff 😉). Letting your photographer know your wants and needs (like removing your brothers new girlfriend from of some of the family groupings) is something you shouldn’t be ashamed of, and your photographer can absolutely save you from the family drama if needed. Your final consultation is a great time to ask your last minute questions and figure out when your photographer will be arriving on wedding day.

Right now, we hope that you are enjoying your engagement and living in the moment as much as possible and we hope that these questions to ask your wedding photographer after booking helps you find the right questions to ask. Check out this Marietta, Ohio engagement session 👉🏼
