How To Create Unique Ohio Engagement Pictures

Here are the steps we take to make sure that each session is unique and Pinterest-worthy 👉🏼

Step One: Request a Mood Board

The very first thing we do when planning an engagement session for our clients is request a mood board from them. This usually is created on Pinterest, which is very user friendly for everyone involved. We don’t do this so that we can recreate those images, however. We use the mood board to understand the vibe that the client is going for in terms of location, outfits, and overall feel. With this mood board, we can better understand the location in which the engagement session takes place, what kind of fashion style we will utilize, and what the client really wants.

Step Two: Determine Engagement Session Location

With the mood board we are provided from the client, we move on to choose the location of the engagement session. If the mood board leans more toward cityscapes, we would take them somewhere like a rooftop in Cleveland, Ohio with a view of the skyline. If the mood board leans more toward open fields and tall grass, well, we could take them anywhere in Ohio 😉 If the mood board takes place in an indoor location like this one, we would recommend the client book an airbnb and we would likely find them the perfect one too.

Step Three: Find the Perfect Outfit

This is the tricky part for most people. It’s not always an easy task, but we’ve got your back. Ashley Stein: Ohio Wedding Photographer has an entire client closet full of dresses and mens shirts to complete the look. You might not have to buy anything extra at all. If the desired look isn’t in the client closet, we will help the client find the perfect fit no matter what. Free People is what takes up most of our client closet and we are obsessed. This is the fun part for us!

Step Four: Figure Out Timing

Our favorite time to photograph an Ohio engagement session is during golden-hour. It is when the sun is about to set, and peeks through the trees at just the right moment. It is the most sought after time for, arguably, all photographers. If this is the case during our client’s session, we will plan it for 1.5 hours before sunset on the day of the engagement session. If it is an airbnb session, it might take place at a better time. At the end of the day, we simply want to make sure we have the best lighting possible no matter where the engagement session takes place.
